- the problem isn't overt partisanship
- at the time, I welcomed it– I envisioned an adversarial relationship akin to trials
- i'd also question his analysis
- remember rather-gate?
- "For much of the 20th century, this wouldn’t have been considered journalism at all."
- he notes the analytics-driven nature of the HuffPo
- he keeps focusing on the idea that the media should just admit its biases
- but he thinks that a media that embraces it wont' appeal to the middle
- he ties it all back to the '08 primary
- Fox news profited off the competitive D primary
- he's oblivious to anything outside the traditional media world

- then goes on to tell the story of Mayhill Fowler, the "citizen
journalist" that broke Obama's "bitter-clinger" remarks
- I guess the point is: she was there on behalf of the HuffPo
- and if she hadn't been willing to reporting something contrary to interest, it never would have gotten out
