Seeing a lot of anger this morning about the protests on the Golden Gate Bridge & 880 (for non-Bay Area readers, a major commuting route up the east side of the San Francisco bay through Oakland). See here and here, e.g. Much of the commentary is along the lines of "Why are they doing this? They're just making everyone angry & not persuading anyone to adopt their point of view."
Well, they're doing this because it's all upside from their perspective. They get to feel virtuous & heroic wihle suffering zero consequences. Remember the Bay Bridge protesters being arrested? Yeah… the charges were dropped. Funny thing is, all those angry people in their cars are responsible for this; they elected & re-elected officials proudly committed to not enforcing the laws.
