They wanted this
Replying to JazzShaw's tweet:

Saw this over at HotAir on Friday: "Denver residents lose control of thermostats to fight energy crisis". Jazz Shaw warns "…stop and consider how much control the government is seeking to exert over nearly every aspect of your life these days."

Well, yes. That is what governments do. They always have & they always will. That's why we in the west have tried to setup governing institutions that constrain & channel that natural impulse.

The truly alarming aspect of this story can be found here, in local coverage. Shaw's poor, oppressed, put-upon citizens… signed up for this: "Customers receive a $100 credit for enrolling in the program and $25 annually, but … customers also agree to give up some control to save energy and money and make the system more reliable."

In other words, it sems that the people complaining so bitterly about "losing control" of their thermostats in fact gave it up… for one hundred dollars. If true, I'd say we have a much bigger problem than government overreach.
